Hi,

I had the same problem after a sudden computer shutdown due to low battery, after several attempts I solved it by renaming the directory "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Network\Downloader" to "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Network\Downloader__OLD" and then I recreated it (empty); then I restarted the BITS service which worked without problems.

Best regards,
Stefano

Stefano, I had tried every troubleshooting step imaginable, registry edits, command line tweaks, DISM, etc. Nothing would get BITS to run. Every time I clicked "start" it would immediately stop again. So I just tried your suggestion. I renamed the folder, and created a new empty folder. Started BITS and it didn't stop. Thank you. But my updates still fail. The Defender Antivirus update KB2267602 gives error 0x80070643. Nothing bypasses that. And Microsoft Office 2010 KB2883019 (64-bit edition) fails as well. I've tried these updates for four months now. Have even reinstalled my OS. Nothing works.
