Show clickable icon in list instead of URL

Question

Wednesday, January 7, 2015 5:18 PM

Hi there,

I have a SharePoint Online list containing a hyperlink field. When users view the list, they see the full text URL for the hyperlink. I'd like to replace that hyperlink with a small icon, so that users do not see the URL, but can click on the icon to navigate to the URL. Is there anyway to do this?

Thanks in advance,

cflbasser

In your List's Hyperlink field - make sure that when it was created, you set the option to display it as a picture and not a hyperlink.

Using a calculated field as described in the link you provided worked perfectly.

Much appreciated.

This easily can be done by using Calculated Column or using Javascript  .

Following links can help you.

Javascript:

http://www.threewill.com/sharepoint-hyperlink-column/

They have used Javascript for changing hyperlink display. You can use same javascript to have small icon in place of hyperlink.

Calculated Column:
