Site Server Computer Account Admin Rights

Question

Wednesday, February 12, 2014 2:40 AM

Hi Guys,

We are trying to build Dev Environment, Trying to install Primary Site using Remote SQL Cluster. We've trusted domains and both (Site Server and SQL servers) are in Child Domain. But I'm using Parent Domain user account to install SCCM.

I"ve done following steps already.

1. Computer Account is added on all SQL Cluster Members in Local Administrators Group.

2. Computer Account and SCCM Installer Account have been added in SQL SysAdmin Group as well.

3. Domain Account which is being used for installation, it is also added in Local Administration Group on Site Server.

I've done almost all required steps but still getting "Site Server Computer Account Admin Rights"

Configuration Manager Setup requires that the site server computer has administrative rights on the SQL Server and management point computers.

Your quick help will be appriciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I had every CM configuration right and SQL admin rights as well, even I was using all compatible versions of SQL and CM2012R2. But with further investigation with other team, we found there was problem with Windows Cluster configuration. I don't know much about windows cluster configuration and can't remember what infrastructure team changed but problem was resolved after that. Thanks

Is the account being used to install a local admin on the SQL servers?

Cheers

Your installation account (Whatever the account you are using to install SCCM) should be added in the SCCM Server Local Admin group

Also, This message typically occurs when you’re setting up a new SCCM environment with a new remote SQL Database server.
In most cases, you can solve this error by adding the SCCM server name to the Local Administrators Server.
(To add a computer to the Administrators group, don’t forget to tick the Computers checkbox under Object Types , since you won’t find your server if you don’t)

What CM12 Version are you trying to install on SQL Cluster? What SQL Server Version is your cluster? I am asking this because CM12 RTM (no service pack) does not support the site database on any version of a SQL Server 2008 R2 cluster.

Is it directly added as a local admin or was it added as part of a group membership?

I'm using SCCM 2012 R2 ver: 5.0.7958 and SQL 2012 with SP1 (11.00.3000), Thanks

Installer Domain account is added through GPO but I've tried to add it manually as well. Just to make sure.

I'm gussing, there is problem with child domain. Because both site server and sql server are in child domain and I'm using parent domain's user ID to install SCCM. Any other idea would be appriciated to resolve this issue. Thanks

Yes, I know this is an old post, but I’m trying to clean them up. Did you solve this problem, if so what was the solution?

Since no one has answer this post, I recommend opening  a support case with CSS as they can work with you to solve this problem.
