Question
Friday, July 31, 2015 12:50 PM
Hi all
I have been updated to windows 10 from the tech preview and have come across a glitch in the Family and User app in settings.
Logged in as Admin
Locate settings / user accounts / Family and other users
At this stage I am prompted to sign in with my Microsoft ID
This I do as required, However from this point it does nothing more
From researching this problem I am led to believe that after signing in I should be presented with an option to add family Members,
This option I am not presented with any option to add another Family Member.
I am able to add another user that is not a family Member
I am also able to join Microsoft Family through the Official Site and add and or remove Family Members
Has anybody come across this ?
Thanks
Tadkin

Hi,
For your question, it might be caused by corrupted system file or third-application effect.
Please refer to below steps for troubleshooting:
Step1: Clean boot
- Press "Windows+R" and entry "msconfig".
- On the Services tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then tap or click Disable all.
- On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click Open Task Manager, then for each startup item, select the item and then click Disable.
More details about it, please refer to: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135
Step 2: SFC
- Press "Windows+X" and select "Command Prompt(Admin)".
- Entry sfc /scannow and press Enter to start.
Note: Do not close this Command Prompt window until the verification is 100% complete. The scan results will be shown after this process is finished.
More details about SFC, please refer to: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833
Hope it help.

I have same issue for windows 10.
I tried clean boot.. still not able to add family member account...
Here is the error on Accounts page...
"We couldn't connect to Microsoft family right now, so your family on this device might not be up date"
When I click Add a Family member I get following message
Something went wrong
Try again or select Cancel to set up your device later.
I have been trying to add an account for last 3 week with no success.
Note: I can add other account but not family account.
Please help.

Clean boot worked for me. Do not restart your computer when prompted (until after family member is added).

Hi,
I did all steps and added the new family member, but when I sign in, I got an error message "The User Profile Service service failed the sign-in. User profile cannot be loaded." in blue screen.
Thanks,

I have had the same problem seem to have started around the Windows 10 Developers Edition update, But almost every thing on this Windows malfunctions one way or another nothing about this OS runs smooth, It is definitely the worst Windows I have ever run or, should I say try, an try an try again, an again, an again, lmfao Pathetic data harvesting OS more geared towards sales and bloated with adds an Windows store sht that don't even run, Still LMFAO Good Luck ! Their seems to be no fix for this either, Headed for Linux my self shortly, tired of having all my private data gone over by a bunch of third world countries, made up of thieves an devious types! Microsoft's new employee's.
