windows can't open add printer. The remote procedure call failed

Question

Friday, January 10, 2020 1:14 AM

Recently we upgraded two computers from windows 7 to windows 10. Somehow when I tried to add printer, I got "windows can't open Add printer. The remote procedure call failed". The printer spooler is running and remote procedure call is running as well. RPC locator is set to manual. Tried sfc /scannow and did windows printer troubleshooting with no luck.

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated!!!

Hello,

Try setting Remote Procedure Call, RPC Endpoint Mapper, Remote Procedure Call Locator, DHCP Client services to Automatic Startup Type and start them. See if this helps.

Regards.

Hi,

If possible, please try Clean Boot and check the result.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows

If problem persists, please run Winver and check the detail OS build number. Also, based on error happens time, try to find relate event log via Event Viewer.

Faulting module name: csantprt.dll
this is some 3rd party dll. It is not on my system.
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRTPROCS\x64\csantprt.dll"
