Questions about Get Genuine Windows Agreement (GGWA)

Question

Monday, October 14, 2019 12:11 AM

Hi,

I'm planning to buy Windows 10 Enterprise commercial licenses for my organization (< 10 employees), but I noticed that Enterprise licenses are only **UPGRADE** licenses which can only be applied to existing qualifying systems, like Windows 10 Pro. Our computers only have OEM Windows 10 Home, so the "Volume Licensing Reference Guide for Windows 10 Desktop Operating System" suggests me to buy GGWA for Small and Medium Organizations, which is Windows 10 Pro. I have a few questions about that plan (or agreement):

* 1. Is it still volume licensing? May I manage the keys using KMS as the other licensing programs?

* 2. Has it any relationships with the licensing programs, like the Open Value?

UPDATE: It seems to be using Open License Channel. ( http://download.microsoft.com/documents/rus/Events/Materials/microsoft_licensing_overview.pdf )

I'm looking for documents for GGWA, but there iare only either few or old ones, therefore I had no idea. Thanks in advance.

For licensing questions, our best choice is consulting the Microsoft licensing service directly.

Smart as you, have answered the first question:

1. Is it still volume licensing? May I manage the keys using KMS as the other licensing programs?

Yes, GGWA-SMO is a Volume License legalization offering and gives you a way to address the legalization opportunity within your customers’ existing PCs. However, it cannot be managed by KMS.

2. Has it any relationships with the licensing programs, like the Open Value?

No.

For more information about GGWA-SMO, look at this PPT.

I had realized another question. I heard that both Open License and Open Value has a minimum 5 licenses limit, and that can be composed of any 5 licenses (for example, 2 Windows, 1 server and 2 Office and that qualifies the requirement). If GGWA-SMO is a part of neither Open License nor Open Value, may I compose it with other Open License or Open Value purchases? May I check the price of GGWA-SMO at mla.microsoft.com? Thanks.

For another question you'd better post a new case for help, more forum moderators and experts will see it and help you.

The Microsoft License Advisor website is proper for your consultation。
