Question
Sunday, June 25, 2017 6:56 PM
I am English and live in Egypt. This means I sometimes need to write in Arabic. My keyboard is set up to switch between English and Arabic however there is one BIG problem - the numbers remain in western numbers instead of the numbers used in Arabic. Before in Windows XP pro and Windows 7 there was preinstalled a Charset where I could find the appropriate number characters for Arabic writing and copy them into my text but I can't find this in Windows 10. I am new to Windows 10 and I have to say that at the moment I am not liking it at all. There is so much missing - my personal opinion is that XP pro is the best ever version of windows. Anyway, I am aware that the numbers used in the west are referred to as Arabic numbers so I can understand if my request seems strange seeing I want to write in Arabic. However the Arabic language uses Persian numbers so it IS a problem. I would therefore be very grateful if you could tell me how to get the same Charset function on Windows 10. Thank you.
PS I am also miffed that in the languages section for this forum you only let me choose English US. I am English and was hoping for English UK. I am sure you will understand that in spite of the close similarities between the languages and our mutual understandings they are not actually the same language.

Hi thedizzydiver,
As IECustomizer provides, Windows 10 has Character Map. You could type “Character Map” in the Search Bar to find it. It’s a desktop app.
Also it could be found in Control Panel the same place as it was in Windows 7 and Windows 8:
Control Panel>Language> Lower left corner “Fonts”>Find a character
Hope it will be helpful to you
