Question

Hi Guys,
Having a problem with kiosk mode. (Windows 10 1709)
I am trying to get it to start Edge or Internet Explore and open the VDI web page.
When I try to get internet explore to start it only loads a command prompt.
I have put the path in correctly and tried multiple combination.
From the command prompt I can run Internet explore.
Any ideas, why this is happening.
Thanks for your advice.
Craig

Hi Guys,
Well I had to put this to the side until I have more time to work on it.
As a work around for security I added the computer to the domain, Created a group policy to open IE in kiosk mode.
Users can still close Kiosk but they are secure.
Regards
Craig

Hi Craig,
What's your Windows system (Windows 10 Home, Professional, or Enterprise)?
Is it available to run Edge in Kiosk mode?
As my known, Internet Explorer is a classic Windows application, we could use the Provision kiosk devices wizard in Windows Configuration Designer (Windows 10, version 1607 or later) to create a provisioning package that configures a kiosk device running a Classic Windows application. But it only apply to Windows 10 Enterprise or Education only.
We also could run a Classic Windows application on Kiosk device with Shell Launcher which set a custom user interface as the shell. But it is also apply to Windows 10 Enterprise or Education only.

Hi
I am testing on win 10 ENT 1709. I used windows configuration designer to create the image. We have few license that should cover us for the thin clients.
I can not seem to find the command to open edge to a set page and allow me to type in the browser.
When I try IE I always get a Dos window rather than IE starting. I have tried the full path and just the name but it's still not working.
Do you know what I am doing wrong?
Thanks
Craig

Hi Craig,
We should better try to create Kiosk again by the official reference article to check the issue:

Anybody?
Had it working on 32-bit version of LTSB 2016, but on 64-bit redone install I only get Command Prompt even Chrome is configured as shell
Any ideas?
Seb
edit
On 64-bit Windows I had to have the shell command to be local c:\chrome.cmd batch file (in previous 32-bit full path to chrome with switches worked fine!)
Go figure...

Hi
I had a problem like this. I think the fix was that you had to licese, activate the OS. The Kiosk mode only works on activated OS.

Please read, it WORKS fine for short command (batch), but does NOT accept command with 3 switches --
Why would I be using non-activated machine? Anyway, all my machines auto-activate from KMS as soon as domain joined

Hi Scerazy,
You will need to start your own thread then, and not attach at the bottom of this thread, as it looks like a different problem.

This still seems to be the case, did you ever find a work around?
I have a line ending with 'start.bat --unattended'.
Thanks,

Hi
I did end up getting Kiosk mode to work.
Unfortunately I am not sure what I changes, I just came back one day tested it and it was working.
Maybe ensure you patch and activate the windows license.
I also created a shortcut to edge or IE with website link.

That is not much help then...
In the end I used this, which just works!
On Windows 10 LTSC 2019 (which is my default version for all workstations, all other ones are unusable in multi-user environment)
