File explorer closing unexpectedly due to group policy refreshing

Question

Monday, October 22, 2018 11:01 PM

File explorer will close unexpectedly, immediately stopping any copying or other transactions occurring between two mapped network drives. Sometimes the error message pops up that the drive is not available, but other times it just disappears and stop copying with no message. This happens whenever the group policy is refreshed and can easily be duplicated when a gpupdate /force is run while a copy is occurring across the network between two mapped drives that are mapping via Group Policy.  The Group policy is using the "replace" option. I have read other solutions that recommend using the "update" in group policy instead of "replace. However, my employer does not want to switch since the Replace option works for us whenever we migrated drive locations and need to replace the mappings.  They would like to find out what setting in Windows 10 is the source of the disconnection since it doesn't happen on Windows 7. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi,
We can try the following ways:

Way 1:
Try to disable the fast boot option in Windows 10

Way 2:
Try to disable both Microsoft Sign in service and UsoSvc service if we do not need them. The UsoSvc is a service which is used by organizations to install software without having the user login to do it. If we do not need it so we can disabled it.

Way 3:
Enabled the policy: Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/System/Group Policy/Configure Drive Maps preference extension policy processing
Allow processing across a slow network connection: Enabled
Process even if the Group Policy objects have not changed: Disabled
Background priority: Idle
