Question

My Setup:
Two Windows PCs and a WD NAS Drive on my home LAN.
I mapped network drives (Z:\ on both PCs so we could shared files.
The Issue:
When a file was deleted from the NAS by either user it was permanently lost.
I wanted the file to go to the Windows Recycle Bin to catch accidental deletes.
My Actions:
I found this article about setting up a Recycle Bin Location:
https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/tip-network-recycle-bin.16974/
And I followed these steps contained within the article:
1. Map a network drive to the network share you want to use. Make sure that the drive is re-connected on logon. If you don't know how to do this, search Google.
2. Browse to C:\users\user name>.
3. Right-click on one of the folders in this location (I chose saved games) and click properties.
4. Select the Location tab.
5. Click Move, browse to to root of the drive you mapped in step 1, and click Select Folder.
6. Click Ok and click yes in the dialogue box that appears.
7. Repeat these same steps for all users on the computer.
But now when someone deletes a file, and the other user opens the Z:\ Drive they get an error message: (See Image Below)
I've tried the following to fix this but with no luck:
- Disconnected the network drive and reconnected.
- Tried remapping one machine as Z:\ and the other as X:\
- Tried remapping one machine as C:\Users\Username\Contacts
- Tried remapping other machine as C:\Users\Username\3D Objects
- Rebooted both machines
- Rebooted the NAS
- Tried to Repair the Recycle Bin i.e. "d /s /q C:\Recycle.**bin" **https://www.thewindowsclub.com/recycle-bin-is-corrupted-windows
- Tried deleting the $RECYCLE.BIN file from all PC drives and the network drive
- Whenever I reconnect the network drive the recycle bin shows Z:\ as a location
I cant seen to shake this one. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Sengupta
Thanks for replying and thank you for your help.
I tried your solution. It worked for my C:\ Drive but not the Z:\ Drive.
I got the error message:
"The system cannot find the specified path"
