Excel 2013: how to display tab and other non-printing characters

Question

Tuesday, November 14, 2017 1:45 PM

Up until recently, Excel would display tab characters as an empty box character.

They were displayed on the sheet and in the edit box.

Now they are simply not displayed.

I've turned "Display Control Characters" on but it makes no difference.

Any ideas?

Many thanks,
e.

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately none of the suggestions is useful in the first instance.

Excel used to work in this way.

It seems unusually arbitrary that this has changed like this.

Do you have any idea what the "display control characters" option is supposed to do?

I suspect, given that there was a rather unpleasant bug associated with this on release (which has been fixed, yay!) that it's supposed to do exactly what it says it does but does not.

Thanks again,
e.
