We are having an issue on Office 2016 and Office 365 where some embedded Youtube video is coming up as "unavailable". Go through the process of embedding or searching for the video via insert which works and the place holder shows up fine in the video, however when it comes to playing the message received is "This video is unavailable". Some content works ok but some not. All have embed code so you would think it is licensed to use in this way. Has anyone else come across this issue?

Hi Robbie,
I would like to know how you embedded the YouTube video in PowerPoint. Please try the following steps to create a new PowerPoint file, and insert the video:
- In YouTube, find the video that you want to insert.
- Below the video frame, click Share, and then click Embed. (If you neglect to click Embed, you'll end up copying the wrong code.)
- Right-click the iFrame embed code, and click Copy.
If the highlighted text that you copy begins with "http", STOP. It's the wrong code to copy. Return to step 2 and click Embed:
To work correctly, the code you use to embed your video must begin with either "iFrame" or "<object". If your embed code begins with "http", your video won't be embedded successfully.
- In PowerPoint 2016, click the slide that you want to add a video to.
- On the Insert tab, click Video > Online Video.
- In the From a Video Embed Code box, paste the embed code, and then click the arrow.
- A video rectangle is placed on your slide, which you can move and resize as you like. To preview your video on your slide, right-click the video rectangle, select Preview, and then click the Play button on the video.
Check if the video can be played.
Best Regards,
Winnie Liang

tried that it doesn't work. Says video is unavailable. Does it on most video's almost as though a licensing issue however embedding it into the forum it plays? (excuse the song choice)

Hi Robbie,
I tried with this video and I also cannot play it in PowerPoint 2016. Tried to change other YouTube video and it works. Please change a video in your side to have a try.
Best Regards,
Winnie Liang

Yes some work but many don't which is bizarre. So could this be a licensing issue with the video? or an issue with powerpoint

Not sure the root cause. I suspect if the issue is related to the video itself. Personal suggestion, please confirm if the "unavailable" video can be downloaded to local desktop. Then try to insert it locally as a workaround.
Alternatively, save the video to OneDrive, then insert it from OneDrive to PowerPoint.

How do I save video in One Drive?

Whoever uploaded the video may not have checked the box in their advanced settings labeled "Allow Embed". That could be why some videos work and others don't.
