Question

Starting a new thread since this has started again. Two older threads existed on this subject but were never resolved.
Windows Update no longer appears as an option on the Settings page - See snapshot below.
Windows 10 Pro - 64 Bit - Not on a domain - Not in a server environment - Not using Group Policy from network - Simple P2P network with workgroup. Newer Dell workstation - Occurring with several clients and now on a personal computer as well. Have run the troubleshooter in Settings and message is errors were found and corrected, but doesn't change anything after reboot. Ran the MS Windows Update repair tool - No Help / Followed the netstop bits, crypto, wuauserv, etc and renaming Software Distribution folders and Catroot2 folders - No Help. Group Policy settings to deny access to Windows Update are either disabled or not configured. Registry Keys denying access to Windows Update are all set to allow access.
Anybody have any ideas as to why this has just started occurring?

The settings page visibility was 'not enabled'. I enabled and set it to 'ShowAll' and this appears to have resolved the issue. Problem is that this issue is on several client computers and just logged in to one workstation remotely that was having this issue. Checked the Settings Page Visibility and found that the setting was the same as on the workstation I was working with - 'Not Enabled'. Windows update was not appearing in the settings window.
See snapshot below -
Enabling setting page visibility and typing 'ShowAll' in the options window brought the Windows Update option back to the settings menu. This should not have to occur - This is a bug in Windows 10. Windows update options should not randomly be removed from the settings page NOR should this group policy item need to be updated to show Windows Update. Microsoft needs to address this issue.
Your answer has resolved the issue, however, I believe that MS would be best to address this problem in the next update, I have a lot of clients that have this same issue.
Thanks.

Hi Acrue,
Thank you for your post.
I check some machine. Windows Update option always appear in Update & security setting If we do not make any settings. So your issue isn’t normal. It’s a good method to use GP to help you solve the issue.
Also I will forward this information to the appropriate department through our internal channel. Both the Microsoft Product Team and Development Team take into consideration all suggestions and feedback for future releases.
Best regards,
Carl

Thanks for the feedback. If you are able to forward this to the Microsoft teams, you can let them know that I just did a clean install of Windows 10 Pro to a Dell CPU. 'Check For Updates' did not appear in settings until I went in to GP and modified the setting to "showall" as indicated above. I am having this occur on just about every client machine that has the Creator's update installed.
Thanks.
