Hi,
I want to set custom homepage on Microsoft Edge without using GPO (As it works only on Domain-Joined Machine).
i have tried through below registry but it didn't work for me.
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppContainer\Storage\microsoft.microsoftedge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\MicrosoftEdge\Main]
"HomeButtonEnabled"=dword:00000001
"HomeButtonPage"="https://www.Microsoft.com/"
I have also gone through
%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\Settings
Copied settings.dat file in new machine.
Please guide me.
Thanks

Set the same RegKey, like the Policy would do:

Create it as a local GPo and deploy L-GPO by file.

No. You should export the Local GPO and import the locap GPO, not the
reg setting. Importing the reg file is the same, to edit it directly.
->%systemroot%\system32\GroupPolicy

Hi,
I have tested on my side, I could use the following registry to add Microsoft as my home page in Microsoft Edge.
Route: Computer\**HKEY_CURRENT_USER\**Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppContainer\Storage\microsoft.microsoftedge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\MicrosoftEdge\Main
"HomeButtonEnabled"=dword:00000001
"HomeButtonPage"="https://www.microsoft.com/"
I noticed you changed the registry in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, but I think the setting would be relate to user profile. So please configure the value in HKEY_CURRENT_USER and check the issue again.
Best regards,
Joy.

Hi JiteshKumar,
Have you tried to log and login again then check the symptom?
Try to login with another account and modify the registry key again.
Best regards

Hi,
Did you check the issue with a new account?
What's your exact Operating System? I test the registry key on my Windows 10 version 1703.
We could use Process Monitor to capture the registry key on your computer.
Bests,
Joy.

Hi,
I checked the registry key with a process monitor, you could change Microsoft Edge homepage to a specify website, then monitor the changed registry keys. At first, stop "Capture" and "Clear" the existing process trace. Then start "Capture" and change homepage to a specify website in UI. After changed, stop "Capture".
Bests,
Joy.

Thanks! for the update. is it working in workgroup Join machine? If yes can you elaborate more?
Saturday, July 15, 2017 9:14 AM
Hi,
Yes, Process Monitor could be used in workgroup join computer. Actually, it is not have a limitation on whether it is domain join or work group join.
We could know more about Process Monitor from the following link:

Hi
You have to use:
Hive: HKEY_CURRENT_USER
KeyPath: Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppContainer\Storage\microsoft.microsoftedge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\MicrosoftEdge\Main
ValuName: HomeButtonPage, Value type REG_SZ
Value data: https://www.Microsoft.com/
You can set this key with GPP

Setting the HomeButtonPage Registry-Key configures the URL which is opened when manually pressing the "HomeButton" (next to the URL-Input-Field).
As already discussed the Edge GroupPolicy for "Homepage" doesn't work as local Group Policy for non-domain-joined machines. The Help-Text next to this GroupPolicy explains this, and I tested it - it doesn't work in regular Workgroup-Mode.
BUT: There is a Workaround. Not only Domain-Join qualifies to activate this GroupPolicy-Setting, also MDM (Mobile Device Management) activates the usage of the GPO.
AND: There is a Trick, how to Fake that the Workgroup Machine "thinks" it is MDM-Managed. Just add a few Registry-Keys, details are described in my Blog-Post (written in German: https://hitco.at/blog/microsoft-edge-startseite/).
Fake MDM-Enrollment Registry-Keys:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Enrollments\FFFFFFFF-FFFF-FFFF-FFFF-FFFFFFFFFFFF]
"EnrollmentState"=dword:00000001
"EnrollmentType"=dword:00000000
"IsFederated"=dword:00000000
