Unable to use multiple monitors for RDP Session Windows 10

Question

Tuesday, December 19, 2017 3:35 PM

Greetings,

Lenovo Windows 10 Enterprise Laptop that is on a Laptop Dock with 2 connected monitors. We are trying to get the RDP session to use the 2 monitors however it will only display on 1. We are connecting to a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine. I have verified that "use multimon:i:1" and or "Use all my monitors for the remote session" is selected. I have also tried to use a setting I found in another forum post "span monitors:i:1" which creates a long window but will not go to full screen mode on both monitors so is not a valid solution.

Thanks,

Magoo

Hi Magoo,

Your current method is correct, including:

a. Click “Use all monitors for the remote session” in the client (mstsc.exe) window.

b. Use the “/multimon” switch on the mstsc.exe command line.

c. Add “Use Multimon:i:1” to the RDP file.

If still no help, check this similar case for some ideas.

Remote desktop use two out of four monitors

Besides, try to use Remote Desktop Connection Manager 2.7.

Teemo,

I found the issue. I found that the issue was related to a group policy setting that would restrict the amount of monitors per session. Our policy was set at 2. I could either disable the laptop monitor so the workstation on the dock would only have 2 monitors or as we did just updated the gp setting for more. Thanks for the try though.

Cheers!
