Hi
My server log file is growing in the following folder. I read all replied saying I can reset the log to another drive. How to do that? In Central Admin?
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS

Hi Munu,
You can configure the directory / location of diagnostic logs via Central Administration (http://YourSharePointServerCentralAdminSite/_admin/metrics.aspx). On this page you can specify where to move the logs to (recommended to move to a different drive), and you can specify the number of days and maximum size.
To get to the page;
1. Open the Central Admin site
2. Click on the Monitoring link (side navigation menu)
3. Click on Configure diagnostic logging
This shouldn't have any effect on SQL's performance.
For more information on SharePoint 2010 diagnostic logging, see: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/ee748656(v=office.14).aspx

My previous experience in moving or deleting the log file has resulted in SQL DB down and not able to connect to Sharepoint after that. So I would like find out what would be the correct steps to do it now? Please share your thoughts.
Thanks,
Munu
