Can you add notes to a calendar without creating an appointment?

Question

I would love to be able to add simple notes to a calendar that doesn't create an appointment. For example, labor day is coming up. I would like there to be a note on that day reminding me it's labor day without having to create an appointment (and please don't tell me there's some way to add holidays automatically--that's not what I'm talking about, that was just an example of many things one might want to note on a calendar.)

Creating an appointment either makes me look busy during that time or I have to go in and mark the time as free, but it still behaves like an appointment with reminders and such. Not everything noteworthy about a day or a week is something that is booked time, sometimes it's just information. Like when my brother is coming to visit, I'd like to be able to look at the calendar and see when he's coming but I don't want to attach all the implications of treating it like an appointment. Is there a way to do that? If not I'd love for it to be added. I'd even like to be able to change the color to highlight a day, week or month too for something special, like spring break or similar.

Hi,

Although Outlook Calendar doesn’t have the feature to add notes, as a workaround, we could create a personal calendar to keep your personal appointments.

To create a personal calendar, follow the below steps:

1. Click the drop-down arrow if the Calendars in the "My Calendars" group are not displayed.

2. Right click "Calendar" under "My Calendars" and select "New Calendar..." from the pop-up menu.

3. Enter information about your new calendar.

4. The "Create New Folder” dialog box pops up, name your new calendar and click OK.

5. The new calendar is displayed under "My Calendar" group.

It’s convenient to view multiple Calendars using Side-By-Side and Overlay modes.

By default, the personal calendar opens side by side with your main calendar. You can click the left pointing arrow to overlap them.

Here is an article descripted the detailed steps:
