Hello Kanemoto,
For Raspberry Pi 3B+, there is a insider preview version 17661 supported officially and it works for me.
So make sure you flash the right version.

I tried that too with no luck... I think the problem is the micro SD. Looks like windows IoT won't work on all micro SD cards. Thanks anyway.

Hello, I installed Windows 10 IoT Core on my Raspberry Pi3 B+. It isn't booting up. When I run it, I see the screen that colored rainbow and doesn't do anything. Is there any solution? Sorry for my bad English.
Using:
- SanDisk SDHC 32GB Class10
- Raspberry Pi3 B+

I have the same problem as the others. I get the colorful screen and nothing else. My new Pi 3B+ system runs fine with noobs/raspberian but will not show up in the IoT dashboard. I reflashed the (recommended Samsung class 10 32Gb) sd card several times with the same result. Unplugging the screen made no difference. The voltage on the board is 5.05 volts. I tried following the directions about changing the settings of the firewall, but there's no "System and Security" in my control panel (windows 10). I did find a section of "defender firewall" settings and noticed that the IoT dashboard was on the list for incoming connections, but not outgoing. Don't know if this matters. The ethernet cable was pulled from another device and the connection is known to work. Anybody have any suggestions? My well is dry.

Dear friend
For Pi 3B+, you should download the FFU manually and flash the sd card with custom item.
Please follow the instruction here: https://www.hackster.io/JiongShi/windows-10-iot-core-for-raspberry-pi-3-model-b-92b1a3
You can read more information here: https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/1cd4a6d3-96e2-46de-8555-fae468962c52/raspberrypi-3b-technical-preview-build-17661?forum=WindowsIoT
Good luck!

Hi,
This week, as in Tuesday 11 September 2018, I purchased a brand new Raspberry Pi 3+ Starter Kit
The kit comprised of:
Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+
Raspberry Pi 3+ Power Supply (Official)
Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ Enclosure (Official)
HDMI Cable 1M
16GB MicroSD card with NOOBS for Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+
All works perfectly on Noob. Perfectly. So I know the hardware works.
Here's what happened next:
1: I used the SD Formatter 4.0 tool to wipe the SD card.
2: I used the Windows 10 Dashboard to make a Windows 10 IoT image for the SD Card.
3: Placed the SD card into the PI and powered on.
4: All I get is the 4 colour splash screen on power up. The red LED stays on and there is NO activity on the green LED. There is no activity on the NIC LED either. There is no activity on the USB (known working WIFI) adapter.
5: Reinstalled NOOB, works perfectly.
6: Used the SD Formatter 4.0 tool to wipe the SD card in "overwrite format" option.
Repeated steps 1 to 5 - SAME RESULT.
Bought a Samsung PRO, Grade 1, Class 10, SDXC ADPT 32GB SD Card
Repeated steps 1 to 6 above with exact same result.
The only different I can see, is when using the dashboard, the device type states "Broadcomm [Raspberry Pi 2 & 3].. It does not mention Model B+. Is that a concern?
Is there something I am missing here?

I found the problem. Although the windows dashboard explains that the data on the sd card will be erased, that didn't happen. It left Rasperian there. Near as I can figure out, it tried to make 2 root partitions on the card. The Pi thought there was none, and my desktop thought there were two drives!
I started anew (trying to get Rasperian back) flashing the card with noobs using sd card formatter. Everything looked good. One drive, one file system, no errors or warnings. During the extraction process on the Pi there was a checksum error on the sd card and it attempted a repair which failed, and the install failed.
I put the card back in the pc, which complained that the file system on it was corrupted, and with nothing to lose I let it do the repair. Back to the Pi, and it found another file system structural error, but fixed it and now I have a working system again. Ugh.
The lesson is to not let windows dashboard put IoT on anything but a clean sd card, or it will corrupt the file system on the card.

Hi, for now, the rasberry Pi B 3 + only support this version : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/iot-core/release-notes/insider/rpi3bp .
So you have to be windows insider (it's not complicated, you only have to subsribs).
You have to flash it on the sd card, with windows dash board :
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/iot-core/connect-your-device/iotdashboard
Oncy completely installed, it's run good. (execept the wifi, which is not yet supported).

Hello, friend
If you want to remove Windows 10 IoT Core from your SD card after you are done using it, use the following commands to remove it:
diskpart
list disk (This command lists the drives you have connected to your computer. Take note of the disk number of your SD card)
select disk <number> (Replace <number> with the disk number of your SD card from the previous step
clean
create partition primary
format fs=ntfs quick
exit
For more information, please refer to this official docs: /en-us/windows/iot-core/troubleshooting

Hello i can“t get my Raspberry pi 3 B+ to boot Windows IoT, it just goes to rainbow screen. I can boot fine with Rasbian. And no errors occur when i flash it onto the sd-card that comes with the Raspberry, i use the windows Dashboard. Please help.

So how do we get this older version of insider preview (17661 or rpi3bp)
All I can see in the image installer tool is the latest version (17744)
Which has the problems talked about above, nobs works fine but iot core will not boot past the rainbow screen.
I only bought this RPi to play with iot core so its kind of a bummer that I can't even get past step one.
Any idea when insider preview is going to work again?
How come even the latest 'stable' release is borked, isn't that the point of having stable versions?
Thursday, September 20, 2018 4:02 PM
I have the same issue as everyone else. tried Sandisk Ultras in 32 and 64 gb neither worked through either the Noobs installer, the inbuild iot dashboard or using an iso flashing tool (which wont work because they tell me the images downloaded direktly from ms dont work.
But as others have said, if noone is planning on relasing neither bluetooth nor wifi, whats the point anyway. As a windows phone 8/10 / xbox / c#dev / user, iam used to it by now :D
Thursday, September 20, 2018 5:24 PM
So after some time i figured it out, the boot files specified in any of the distros are not working correctly for me.
i follwed https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/64f33778-4c86-4460-9e4e-53348c73733e/raspberry-pi-3-b-windows-iot-core-boot-work-around?forum=WindowsIoT which means replacing some files in the boot partition.
AFTER THAT I GOT THINGS TO BOOT!
so head over to https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware/tree/master/boot get the files and be done with it.... for now.
Beware: No Wifi, No bluetooth, and it seems like no ethernet too ond the 3 b +

I have a Raspberry Pi 3B+ and I am trying to install Windows IoT on it. I follow all the instructions, have tried 5 different MicroSD Card everywhere from 16gb to 1tb and when the Pi boots up I get a screen full of color, a red light and that's it. What could I be doing wrong?
Thursday, September 27, 2018 8:14 PM
My brand new Pi 3 does not boot with Windows 10 IOT Core or with Insider
What I tested:
1. It booted with Noobs and installs Rasbians on Pi
2. Am using Sandisk 32 GB SD Card and SD Card Formatter Tool
I dont know this is 1st time I am seeing a Linux OS getting smooth install than Windows
I feel frustrating now in Windows but I cant code on Linux, as .Net is my core are.

Hello Soumen,
I can't reproduce your issue.
There is a customer get it work by replacing some files in the boot partition. Can you have a try to see if it works for you?
Please let me know if it helps.

Rita

life is too short to be playing with severely broken software and tools. i will be going back to Raspian. Hopefully the .NET core for Linux installation will be a more successful experience.

This thread has been dead awhile but in case anyone else ends up here while searching for the answers, note first that it appears that nothing has changed in the past 11 months with Windows IoT support of Raspberry Pi 3B +. The best you can do is to download the old, unsupported, technical preview build - 17661.
Jiong Shi's response directing to this article is correct and not outdated, as I assumed it might be (I had expected/hoped that an unsupported build of 11 months ago was not the sole working release for hardware that's been out for 14 months). See also King of the Stone Age's response referencing this doc which substantiates the 17661 being the only build for Pi 3B +.
If you still want to try it out, I can tell you it does work to boot and does have wired network support. Beyond that, I haven't and probably won't expend any more time.
From the aforementioned download link for IoT:
Immediately below where you select 17744 and 17733 from the dropdown, there is a link for 17661, which is still the only working version for Pi 3B +, for whatever reason.
Additional Insider Preview downloads
- RaspberryPi 3B+ Technical Preview Build 17661
Notes:
- I acquired a Samsung 32GB EVO Class 10 Micro SDHC (top of the hardware compatibility list) and after formatting with SD Association's formatter and applying the image via the IoT Dashboard, I was able to boot the 17661 image (after failing to boot 17733, 17744, 17763).
- The color wheel still shows for ~1s on each boot before flipping to Windows logo.
- It took almost 10 minutes (including one reboot) to finish initial boot.
- Wired network is working immediately without additional config.
Although my efforts primarily stemmed from a curiosity as to whether hMailServer could be made to reliably work, I now have considerable doubts about the value of the time expenditure since MS seems to be unwilling or unable to support IoT on Pi 3B +

I had the same problem. I had the Raspberry pi plugged into a power strip at the time. When I plugged it into the wall it worked. I read somewhere on a forum if the pi is under powered you will get the rainbow screen
