Hi everyone,

Can I start by saying its 2020 March, please stay safe at home…and godspeed

Seeing that we're on the point of its 2020. I can't believe I am getting this error at this time.

Number one I can ping the NAS (Name and IP-address)

Number two I have 3 other machines that can access the shares on the NAS.

example \MobyDick\usbhdd

             \111.222.3.444\usbhdd

I tried

Open "Local Group Policy Editor" by searching in Start Menu or going to Run and running gpedit.msc, then go to Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\network\Lanman Workstation and: "Enable insecure guest logons"

I tried

uninstalling network drivers and reinstalling logging off and on again.

Network and sharing center/Advance sharing settings, disabling everything logging off and on again.

I even tried

registry item I added and enabled it(changed to 1) can't even remember what that was anymore.

I tried

Services Workstation disable … Enabled. Changed from manual to automatic.

This includes windows 10 updates device manager driver checks.

Hi,

Your problem is most likely caused by the SMB1.0 service being disabled by default in win10 and your NAS device using the SMB1.0 protocol.
You can solve this problem by following these steps:

  1. Press win + X or right-click on the start menu and select ‘Control Panel’ from the menu that appears.
  2. Find ‘Programs’ and click.
  3. Select ‘Turn Windows features on or off’.
  4. Make sure ‘SMB1.0 / CIFS File Sharing Support’ is checked, and then restart the computer to take effect.

Hope this can help you, if you have anything unclear, please let me know.

Have a nice day!

Allan
