Question

This is the same as the thread
"OneDrive says not enough space, but my Office account it says only 11.5 GB used of 1.03 TB. Which is also wrong - I have 411GB in OneDrive folder"
but I loathe hijacking threads of other people in case their issue deviates from mine.
I originally had this problem when I decided to change from a gmail account to a Microsoft outlook account when logging into Windows. As it had been around 6 months I decided a Windows reinstall was about due anyway so I did just that.
To my surprise, the problem persisted.
I have Office365 which shows most of the 1TB still available when logging on online to Office365. I have performed a settings/Unlink to no avail. Interestingly some actions do not trigger this issue such as save to onedrive an attachment from my outlook.com email client. As is the case with most issues, I have searched online but cannot find anything else relevant to solving this problem.

Hi,
>> OneDrive says not enough space
<< Would you please tell us what have you done before this message shown? Have you added some files in OneDrive folder on you local computer? If yes, please try the following steps to check whether there is enough space on your disk.
- Click icon of OneDrive on taskbar > More > Settings > click "Choose folders" in Account tab > uncheck one folder to stop syncing temporarily.
- Go to OneDrive for web, upload the file again to check this issue.
<< Have you check the space on OneDrive for web? When it is also wrong on Storage Metrics, please check whether there is any large file in OneDrive, please remove them from OneDrive and put them back to have a check.
If you have any updates, please feel free to let me know.
Best Regards,
Emily

Hello Emily. Thank you for responding.
This is a brand new install of Windows. As stated the message first appeared when I decided to use an outlook account rather than a gmail account. This entailed me creating the new outlook account. Paying for the subscription and allowing the old account to expire.
As requested. I temporarily disabled desktop syncing to one folder and successfully manually added a file to that folder from onedrive.com. I had a series of screenshots but apparently I need to verify my account. Never received an email when I subscribed to verify so sigh...another hoop to jump through.
The file uploaded as expected(screenshot available). I also confirmed storage capacity for both onedrive.com and my local desktop which of course both reference the same outlook.com account (screenshots available).
