To add Windows device drivers to a boot image

In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Operating System Deployment / Drivers.

To add a driver to a boot image, select the driver you want to add, right-click the selection, and then click Add or Remove Drivers to Boot Images. Alternatively, you can drag the selected driver to the desired boot image or images under the Boot Images node. You can also add drivers on the Windows PE tab on the Boot Image properties dialog box.

Note
To add multiple drivers to a boot image, select all the drivers you want to add, right-click the selection of drivers, and then select Add or Remove Drivers to Boot Images from the context menu.
In the Add or Remove Drivers to Boot Images dialog box, specify which boot image or images to add the specified driver or drivers to in the Add or Remove Drivers to Boot Images dialog box. To select all available boot images, click Select All.

To update distribution points immediately, select Update distribution points when finished. To update distribution points at a later time, right-click the Distribution Point node under the boot image to be updated, and then click Update Distribution Points. Boot images with the added drivers will not be available to computers until they have been updated on distribution points.

Note
To view existing drivers already associated with a boot image, right-click the boot image, click Properties, and then click the Windows PE tab.

Hi,

You need to import the NIC driver and when you import the driver in Configuration you will be presented with an option in the import driver wizard to add it to boot images, you can also do it afterwards on the properties tab for the boot image and on the drivers tab add the driver from the driver catalog.

Here is how to add an already imported driver to a boot image on Technet: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh497288.aspx#BKMK_AdditionalActions

here is a to import the driver in the driver catalog: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh401101.aspx

here is another guide from Ronni:http://www.ronnipedersen.com/2012/03/importing-drivers-for-osd-in-configmgr-2012/

You can also right-click the driver in question and choose Edit --> Boot Image.  You'll then be able to select from the available boot images the one(s) you want to update with the driver.  This works for multiple drivers if you select all the drivers you want to add and right-click on them as a group.

In SCCM 2012, the driver import has been made very easy.

From the SCCM console, go to Operating Systems -> Drivers. Right click and select Import Drivers and follow the wizard.

The wizard will also present you with an option to update the drivers to boot images.

For more information go to Technet: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh497288.aspx#BKMK_AdditionalActions

There is another alternative option. Go to Operating Systems -> Boot Images. Select the boot image in question and right click it and select Properties. Select the Drivers tab and click on the add button on the right and then select the NIC drivers.

For VMware I recommend to import VMXNET3 Ethernet Drivers and Intel E1000.

For more information about VMX network drivers go to http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1011710

when I right click my driver and try to add it to a boot image I only see 1 boot image.   Ever since we upgraded to 1610 our production boot image no longer shows up and we also no longer have F8 support in our production boot image.
