The Windows SDK version 8.1 was not found in VS 2015 update 3,

Hi, 

My visual studio is not recognising Windows SDK version 8.1. I have been following different workarounds I've seen online but no luck. always same error:

C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft.Cpp\v4.0\V140\Platforms\x64\PlatformToolsets\v140\Toolset.targets(36,5): error MSB8036: The Windows SDK version 8.1 was not found. Install the required version of Windows SDK or change the SDK version in the project property pages or by right-clicking the solution and selecting "Retarget solution".

quite frustrated now as there is no progress with this IDE and any change takes ages...

Thank you for your post.

The Win 8.1 SDK is not included in VS 2015 Update, please install it separately:

https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/downloads/windows-8-1-sdk

after installation what we have to do.... do we have to change any directories or the computer does itself

I have the same problem.  The posted "solutions" do not solve anything.
