Office 2016 continuously asks for activation

I have purchased Office 2016 from microsoft Volume licencing Service Centre and installed it on numerous PCs with no problem. One lap top continuously asks for the product to be activated every time it is opened. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it and re entered the code numerous times. It says the product is now active but still keeps asking for the code. The machine did come with a trial version of office 365 which I uninstalled. Please provide a solution to fix this.

Hi Kevin,

Please try the following steps to collect the information:

1. Open Control Panel > Programs and Features, check if there are multiple Office versions listed.
2. Search Command Prompt in Windows, right-click it and select Run as Administrator to start it.
3. Type the following script:
   cscript.exe "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\Office16\ospp.vbs /dstatus
4. If you are using 32-bit Office 2016 on a 64-bit operating system, run the following: 
   cscript.exe "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft Office\Office16\ospp.vbs /dstatus

Try to run the following command:

cscript.exe "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft Office\Office16\ospp.vbs /unpkey:KHGM9
