Your account has been disabled - user is enabled

Question

Tuesday, July 23, 2013 11:11 PM

I have a mailbox that was disconnected, disabled and expired. I enabled it, reconnected the original mailbox and removed the expiration. I can login to a workstation with the account. However, when I try to connect to OWA I get:

Your account has been disabled.
Request
Url: https://OWAServer:443/owa/
User: Jones, Jo
EX Address: /o=company/ou=admingroup/cn=recipients/cn=ljones
SMTP Address: [email protected]
OWA version: 14.3.146.0

Exception
Exception type: Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.AccountDisabledException
Exception message: Cannot open mailbox /o=ulta3cosmetics&salon/ou=ulta3/cn=recipients/cn=ljones.

As I stated, the account is enabled and I can login to the workstation with no issue. I can't get OWA to work. I waited a day, in case it was a replication issue. I see no AD issues, no replication issues, no other users are having issues.

Any ideas would be helpful. Exchange 2010, SP3, RU1.

Paul

Hi,

Even me too came across the same issue two day's before in my environment which is recently migrated from Exchange 2003 to 2010. Please refer the below my blog article..

This error message basically occurs due to Active Directory Replication delay wait for 15 minutes and try, If still facing the same issue, please follow the above article which will help you to resolve the issue.

It looks like it worked but it took more than a day to "update" or realize the account was no longer disabled. Thanks for your help.

Please check if mailbox is accesible using outlook also verify in Mailbox Features tab if outlook web app is enabled or not.

Hi,

Based on my research, this issue can be caused if there is a delayed synchronization between Active Directory Domain Services and the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service. Such a delayed synchronization may occur when a disconnected mailbox was recently reconnected.

To troubleshoot this issue, I suggest we first try as follows:
Please try disabling the account then enabling it again. And do it out of hours, as it can take a while for a domain to recognize that the account has been enabled or disabled. That could force AD to update the value.

Hope it helps.

Thanks,
Amy

Hi,

That's good news.. If you having such replication issue, Please check the AD health check by doing DCdiag, Netdiag and Repladmin /showrepl. This will help you to understand more about AD replication issues.

Hi All,

I faced similar issue for some users, though account was enabled. Outlook was not configuring, even while configuring outlook, Name was not getting resolved, but Name was getting resolved when i compose a new email.

In my case Mapi was disabled, I enabled Mapi and now able to access, both webmail and outlook.

I have Exchange 2016
