Outlook 0x800CCC0E error - Cannot connect to server

Question

Thursday, September 5, 2019 6:53 AM

Ever since the end July Outlook Office 365 refuses to synchronise subscribed folders for two Sky email accounts. The error reports it cannot connect to server. Outlook also will not add a new email account this time a Gmail account reporting something went wrong could not save settings. The email accounts work without problems on android and MS Mail. I have used the sky accounts with email on this PC for about 20 months without trouble. I have tried every setting possible on the sky email accounts but always get the same cannot save settings message. Newly generated settings from adding accounts will not work.

Any ideas of what I can try next as I have tried everything I can find on MS answers.

Hi,

The error 0x800CCC0e usually occurs due to no internet connection, the conflict between SMTP servers while using an email program or when users try to send emails during account configuration, or due to change in the port number. A firewall can also cause a problem in this regard.

According to my research, there are some suggestions you can try to solve this problem.

  1. Make sure that you are connected to the Internet.
  2. Temporarily turn off your antivirus software to check if the issue will be gone.
  3. Check the settings for the Email Account in Outlook and SMTP server settings.

For more solutions, please refer to: Error occurs when you send or receive an email message in Outlook or Outlook Express.

Hope this can be helpful.

1 - Definitely connected to internet,

2 - antivirus and firewall make no difference,

3 - settings are correct as they work on other email programs. Even if they were wrong and they have worked previously for 20 months this would not explain why I cannot add a new account.

Nothing on the internet, I have found, has made the slightest difference to the problem. I have been trying on and off for  5 weeks.

Morning

Sorry I have been abroad for a couple of weeks.

I have tried everything in the article to try and get one of the sky email accounts working in Outlook 365. I have a second sky account which works with exactly the same settings. Also the email accounts work on Android, Mail and EM client.
