Hi,

How did you open the PowerPoint file? In local desktop or PowerPoint online(browser)?

I suggest you try to open PowerPoint in Desktop and go to File- Info- Edit links to File:

Please try to Update and check if you can Update file successfully.

If you cannot update files, please check the source link and go to this location make sure you can find and open the Excel file.

After opening Excel file, update PowerPoint links again.

Please let me know the result, I'm glad to help you.

Regards,

Emi

Hi Emi,

Thanks for your reply. I am opening PowerPoint in desktop only. When i go to File- Info- Edit links to File:  the Open Source button is disabled and Update Now is not working. So i removed the links and added again by Copy and Paste special but still getting same error when trying to open the PowerPoint again.

Tried repair office uninstall and installed again but issue persist. This issue is coming for specific user.

Thanks,

Pavan

Hi Pavan,

Did the Excel file store in SharePoint? What kind of data did you try to paste to PowerPoint? How about other files in SharePoint? Try to check if the file stored in desktop or the PowerPoint stored in SharePoint and let me know the result.

Could you provide a detail information about your problem?

If possible please provide screenshots to our email address:

Hi Emi,

Sorry for the delay in reply. The excel file is stored in SharePoint. Its a tabular data i tried to paste in PowerPoint.

The issue is coming for other files in SharePoint also. The issue is only with SharePoint no issue when i copy paste and store in desktop.

I found the root cause of the issue. First i opened the linked excel file and then opened the PowerPoint file then the issue is not coming. If i opened the PPT file without opening the excel file then its throwing error.

Hope you understand the issue. Please let me know if you need further details.

Thanks,

Pavan
