Hello everyone!
I like Server 2012, but i don't understand about antivirus protection use there.
In Server 2008 i use Microsoft Essential and i think it's very good decision. But Microsoft Essential don't install on Server 2012. In internet i read many sundry opinion - first Essential build in Server 2012 and second: Server 2012 don't have build-in antivirus protection. I suppose that Defender (as called Microsoft Essential now in win8) must be build in Server 2012. But i cannot find his. In Control Panel i don't see his.
Please, explain me:
1. Have Server 2012 build-in protection as example Defender or something another from malware, spyware etc?
2. If Server 2012 have Defender - how to turn on his?
Very thanks in advance!

Windows Server 2012 does not have built in antivirus. Forefront Endpoint Protection could protect your infrastructure, but would require System Center Configuration Manager to support it. I have no knowledge of other vendors software unfortunately, Google could possibly lead you in the right direction.

Please review my answer in this forum.
I tried to see of Security Essentials would work, incompatible... You're just going to have to wait for an Antivirus solution...
If this is for a production environment, I hope you would have enough sense not to deploy Server 2012 just yet.

Thank you, Steve for your answer! I read your answer on your link. It's very strangely that MSFT make very brilliant operation's system and she don't have antivirus protection. Too bad!
About incompatible - i try use sundry application and this new OS show yourself as very stable. In addiction - several applications, each worked with problem on win7 or serv2008, launch and worked in win8 or serv2012 without problems. And tile-interface is very good!
About Defender - he there is into Server2012 clearly. I get check Registry Edition win8 and serv2012 - they have the same Defender's keys. This article said the same - Defender was into serv2012 and can turn on through Group Policy.

But Group Policy don't work without domen and respectively not allowed turn on Defender. I don't hurry up, but use serv2012 with good antivirus very want.

Hi,
There is no integrated antivirus program in Windows Server operating systems, such as Windows Server 2003, 2008\R2 and 2012.
In fact, TMG is a good option.

Hi Arthur!
But Essential work in Server2008 very good.
I prefer simply decides and don't want waste time for learning TMG. For me and many people (i sure) would be enough use Defender in Server2012 )
If Defender work in Win8 now, he must be work and in Server2012.

I was confronted with the same issue. I needed good antivirus solution for Windows Server 2012. All the ones I tried either failed to install and or were to expensive. I found an inexpensive solution that worked. It was F_Prot AntiVirus! Installed no problem and was only $29. No Kidding it worked on Windows Server 2012!

Hi,
In addition, you may consider to purchase a Forefront package which include Forefront Endpoint Protection that can work with Windows Server 2012 normally.

Prevx 3.x works for my Server 2012 and is priced fairly small like a client. Its cloud based and is quiet. I use it on anything such as my 8 laptop as well. I was tired of delineating client vs. expensive server solutions. It will scan free but needs a license per device (servername) to scan and protect. Rootkit also.
