Question

I have been moving sites from SharePoint 2013 to SharePoint online with MS Migration Tool (ver. 3.1.110.1, latest). However, with some sites migration tool is throwing following error:
GUID,"Invalid source folder '/collaboration/<site>'. Reason: 'The customized permission level [name=Edit, ID=1073741928] is invalid because its type '6' is system preserved.'","ACTION_STOP","0x02010012"
I can't find exact reason why I'm getting the message. What is causing this error and is there way around it?

Hi,
I got issue resolved. Looking back the error message was quite clear on what is the problem. I changed Members group permission level from Edit to Contribute. After that migration was successful.

Hi,
Based on your description, this error is possibly caused by a customized permission level which doesn’t meet the migration requirement.
If you do have a customized permission level, you can move users and groups to the default SharePoint permission levels and then delete the customized permission level. Migrate again to see the result.

Hi,
Not really progress so far. Still struggling to migrate the sites. I don't see anything unusual in the permissions. Site has the default groups
... Members SharePoint Group Edit
... Owners SharePoint Group Full Control
... Visitors SharePoint Group Read
I'll try to remove the Members group and see if that helps

Hi,
Please check if there is any customized permission level via Site settings > Site permissions > Permission Levels. Customized permission levels won’t reflect in the groups if you don’t give this permission level to a group.
You can refer to the link below for the default permission levels.
