Question

Hi,
Just updated to 1902, and deployed updated client to pre-production collection, now i want to promote it to production but the button is unavailible.
- Full administrative user addad through Security -> Administrative Users, so not the problem with AD-group.
- Settings in Hiarchy client upgrade:
"Upgrade all clients in the hiearchu using production client" Checked, Ver 5.00.87.40.1031
"Upgrade all clients in the pre.roduction collection automatically using pre-production client" Checked, Ver 5.00.8790.1025
The upgrade to 1902 went fine accoring to logs and status.
Components and site are healthy.
Tried with different users.
Any suggestion?

Hello,
That's why you can't Prompt, because the latest update 1906 has passed the prerequisite and this behavior change the expected version for production client.
For now, we have to wait for installing the 1906 update and updating the pre-production client to the latest, then we could prompt pre-production client. Or we could choose updating production client during the SCCM updating.

Ray

Hi, it seems to be a known issue,
If the user that try to Promote Pre-Production client, is part of an Active Directory group and is member of the Full Administrator security scope, then the button will be grey- out
The workaround is to add the account, directly in Administrative Users and give the security role Full Administrator

Hi,
Do you have installed the latest 1902 Hotfix KB4500571?
Ensure that you are connected with an account that has full admin privileges on your SCCM platform and the console are up-to-date.
In the console>Administration>Updates & Servicing, right click on the latest 1902 upgrade installed and try to click to Promote Pre-production Client.
If you can't promote it from the Updates & Servicing node, go to Monitoring>Client Status, right click on Pre-production Client Deployment and try this one.

Hello,
Is your SCCM site a standalone primary or CAS? If yes, check that if all your sites have completed the update installation. We cannot promote pre-production clients to production until the last site completes the update installation.
Hope my answer could help you and look forward to your feedback.

Ray

Site is standalone primary.
It's not the "If the user that try to Promote Pre-Production client, is part of an Active Directory group and is member of the Full Administrator security scope, then the button will be grey- out" problem, i've checked, and i also deleted the user and added it back in as administrative user - full administrator.
The hotfix rollup is done aswell, and the promote to production is greyd out in both "monitoring -> client status" and in "administrator -> Updates and servicing"

Hello,
Make sure the user has access to all scopes and try to restart the smsexec service then check the results.

Just to call out a point here, Full Administrator is not a security scope, it is a role. Thus, as Ray notes, the account needs to be both a member of the Full Administrator role and have all scopes assigned -- these are two separate items to grant the account.

Hi,
The user got Full admin and under the "Security Scopes" -tab "All instances of the objects that are related to the assigned Security Roles" is selected.
I've tried to select any of the other two and then add the "All" -security scope, but when i select any of the other radial buttons and press apply -> OK -> close the windows and open it back up again, it's back on "All instances of the objects that are related to the assigned Security Roles", maybe that is as intended?
Thank you for trying to help! :)

Hello,
"All instances of the objects that are related to the assigned Security Roles" should be OK.
Is the 1902 Hotfix Rollup KB4500571 the latest version under Updates and Servicing?

I can se the 1906 update ready to be downloaded, but I can't do that yet cause I need to have the update approved by the company.
