I am having from 5 to 10 log files created every day within 3 hours of boot time. Each file has the same header record and similar data. The files vary in size from 3 kb to 150 kb. They are named [actual machine name]-date-time.log. A sample follows:

I am running MS Office 2013. I am not doing any 'deliberate' logging. I end up deleting these log files weekly and would like to eliminate them.
Any ideas on how to turn them off?

Hi,
This log is about Office 2013 C2R version updates, we can see it in Task Scheduler. Please see the following image.
This triggers might be set as every 3 hour, you'd better check the triggers of this task.

George,
Thanks for the response. I have eliminated all but 2 of the log files - big improvement. Is there some way to NOT create these files at all, or delete them after the are no longer used (short of my writing a batch file)?
Now I can see that there are 2 other 'empty' log files created on boot. They are 'officeclicktorun.exe_c2ruidll' and 'officeclicktorun.exe_streamserver'. Is it possible to eliminate these files?
Thanks.

Hi Peter,
We can check the detailed info of other task to confirm which action are enabled. Then, we can disable the task under the trigger tab.
PS: If you are not IT admin, some task might be set by IT admin via Group policy.

Can you explain why you've blurred out the other tasks in this image. I assume they're all standard Microsoft Scheduled tasks.

I also have this problem.
My temp folder is full of those crappy log files.
I think some logs are OK but not doing housekeeping for a job is very bad programming.
I wish I could litter the apartment of those lousy programmers in the same way they do it with my computer.
Why can't M$ in its great wisdom create a housekeeping service for the log files created by their very own apps?
It could be configurable so that other apps or even the users could add their housekeeping to it too.
