Question
Tuesday, April 10, 2018 5:26 AM
I recently was clearing the themes I downloaded online and I accidentally deleted my Synced Theme. Now I only have the 3 standard Windows, Windows 10 and Flower themes. The Synced Theme is my preferred theme because it would change the background on all my desktops to the image I wanted. Now that I deleted it, I can't find a way to recover it. I checked C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Themes to see if the theme file was there, but it only shows me the background image that's in use. The 3 files it has are slideshow.ini, TranscodedWallpaper, TranscodedWallpaper.jpg, and a folder named CachedFiles with the current desktop background image. I feel like i'm looking at the wrong directory. Is there a way to recover the sync theme setting or do i have to do a clean installation of windows? I prefer getting my hands dirty than doing it the easy way. Thanks for the help!

How long ago did that happen? Try a system restore point, easier than a reinstall.

It wasn't long ago, about 2 months. I can't do a system restore since there aren't any on my computer. A reinstall would be easy, but it would take hours to set it back up. Is there anywhere where I could download the synced theme? Maybe I could get it from someone elses computer that still has the theme?

If you check under Settings > Personalisation then Themes on the left, is there a Get more themes in the Microsoft Store link? If so have you tried that and searching for the theme?

Yes, I have searched for the Synced Theme on the microsoft store. I am sure that the Synced theme cant be downloaded and is prepackaged with windows itself.

Hi,
What account you are using to login Windows? (domain account, Microsoft account or local).
The synced theme will located on C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Themes. Even if we delete it from the folder, it will add again automatically after we sign-out and sign in Windows.
Make sure you have turn on "theme" through settings\Personalization\Themes\sync your settings\Turn on theme
To make sure the theme you deleted is synced theme, please try to sign out and sign in again to check the result.
Try to delete the background image through C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Themes, then sign out and sign in again to check the result. (please backup the image to other folder)

Use another windows 10 pc which have the sync theme. Go to: C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Themes.
In there there is folder named "RoamedThemeFiles" and "Roamed.theme". Copy them to the same place of the pc that misses them and that should solve your problem.
