Windows 10 - Enable fingerprint on Domain Account

Question

Thursday, April 9, 2020 8:36 AM

Hello,

I'm trying to enable the fingerprint login on a Windows 10 PRO ver 1909 laptop joined to a domain without success, the 'Settings > Sign-in Options' interface reports "Some of these settings are hidden or managed by your organization".

These are ste steps i've tried:

  • Enable the Group Policy Computer Configuration > Administrative Template > Windows Components > Biometrics > Allow the use of biometrics [Enable]
  • Enable the Group Policy Computer Configuration > Administrative Template > Windows Components > Biometrics > Allow users to log on using biometrics [Enable]
  • Add reg key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System]"AllowDomainPINLogon"=dword:00000001
  • Add Reg Key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Biometrics\Credential Provider]"Domain Accounts"=dword:00000001
  • Add Reg Key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Biometrics]"Enabled"=dword:00000001

What else can I do?

Thank you,

HJ

Hello,

Thank you for posting in our TechNet forum.

It is suggested that we could try the below steps to check whether it could be successfully or not. We could not do the test in our lab. So if it does not work, please let us know and we will try our best to assist you.

Open Group Policy Editor, navigate to the following setting:
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Logon. And enable the “Turn on the convenience PIN Sign-in

Add Reg Key

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System] – “AllowDomainPINLogon"=dword:00000001

Here is the similar case, we could kindly have a check for reference.
