Hello All,

I met a issue on Outlook 2007.

All my mails sending out are set to delay delivery at 5pm in the outbox by default. I have to clear the delay delivery option one by one. It's very annoying!!!

Can any one help on this?

Thanks a lot

Hi Loring,

When you create a new message, go to check the Options > Delay Delivery, see if it has been configured as Do not deliver before: #######.

Also check Tools > Options > Mail Setup > Send/Recieve > see if the Send immediately when connected has been selected.

Safe mode indicates its a support file or addin at fault. You could try moving everything in the two outlook folders (except data files) to a new folder and see if outlook works correctly in normal mode.

%appdata$\microsoft\outlook and %localappdata$\microsoft\outlook

So all mail holds until 5 pm even though the messages are not set for delivery at 5 pm in options? Or do they not send immediately?

Did you try disabling send immediately and apply, then reset it and apply?

Are you sure that you don' have a rule that delays the mail delivery (defer delivery by a number of minutes) ?

Later edit: you could try to create a new mail profile for outlook and see if that issue still occurs.

What security software do you use? If you use safe mode, does it still happen?

I see a few complaints each month about this and suspect NIS is the cause.

Also test it with a new profile.

 Thanks for your reply, Guys!!

I'm sure there'e no delay rules created, and I have already tried with a new profile, but no luck.

My security software is McAfee VirusScan Enterprise.

I will try the safe mode when convenient.

The issue still exists, pls help me out!!!!!

Thank You!!!!!!1

Did it ever work as expected? If Outlook used to work, any idea when the problem began?

At this point, i suspect only someone who actually experienced the problem and solved it will be able to help - i know its not caused by rules and you are not the first person to suffer this annoyance - but no one ever reports back that they solved it. (It might go away on its own.)

Hello All,

I wanted to chime in with the very same issue.

Outlook 2007 client that won't send messages.
Exchange is in "Online State"
Options\Mail Setup - "Send immediately when connected" is checked
No changes to Anti-Virus
No installs or removal of applications or services

I can see why folks believe that the delay delivery is always turned on.  If I click on Delay Delivery in ribbon it assumes that's what I want to do and inserts today at 5:00pm.  Yet, if I click on the More Options arrow, it shows normal settings, and nothing is checked.

I've tried cached mode, non-cached mode.  Recreating the profile didn't do the trick either.  It happened sometime last week when I was preparing for time off.  I either sent a message and delayed the delivery of it - which may have triggered or I set my out of office for the weekend, or I just hit a magical keystroke combination....I don't know.

After some searching I found an recommendation to start outlook in Safe Mode and try again.   This does allow me to send messages but obviously isn't the fix.  It just shows some setting on my client is wrong.   Any other ideas besides starting in Safe Mode?

Thanks!

Thanks so much for the response.

"Safe mode indicates its a support file or addin at fault. You could try moving everything in the two outlook folders (except data files) to a new folder and see if outlook works correctly in normal mode.

%appdata$\microsoft\outlook and %localappdata$\microsoft\outlook"

I tried the suggestion above and left only the NK2 files, but still experienced the problem (couldn't send).

"So all mail holds until 5 pm even though the messages are not set for delivery at 5 pm in options? Or do they not send immediately?"

Created a few messages and left them in the state they were created in, waited till after 5pm and they didn't send on their own.   Saved one to drafts and it didn't clear out of that folder on it's own.  Not so sure that the delay is the issue since it doesn't check the "Do not Deliver" box unless that option is chosen.  I'll work through the Add-in's (disabling them one at a time) in hopes I run across the culprit.

Thanks so much for your help Diane,

Your suggestions pointed me to the add-in's, which ultimately are the culprit here.   I went to Tools\Trust Center\Add-ins and systematically changed them to inactive till I fixed my issue.   We have an document management system with an email add-in that was ruining my day.   Haven't fixed that, but at least I can send email and deal with the vendor regarding their product.    Thanks!
