gpupdate /force /target:user hangs

Hi,

i have many clients joined to 2012 r2 domain. Some users have problem to perform gpupdate /foce.

If add switch /target:computer, all works fine. Adding /target:user the gpudate hangs on "updating policy.." many many minutes.

After investigation i found that the users in an specify Active Direcotory OU have a problem to perform gpupdate. Moving the users into another OU the gpupdate /force work correctly.

How can debug the problem for the specify OU?

Make sure the GPO is linked to the Organization Unit (OU) that contains the computer. If the GPO configures a user side setting, it needs to be linked to the OU containing the correct user. Please refer to the following link which may help:
