Hi New to sql server,
Thank you for your post.
To turn on the feature of "line numbers" in Visual Studio, please go to Tools menu >> Options >> Text Editor >> Choose the Editor that you want to show "line numbers" (e.g. C#) >> General >> Check "Line Numbers".
Hope this helps! If you have any concern, please feel free to let me know.

Thanks for the response.
I just tried to display the line numbers using the directions you provided but couldn't get it to work. When i go to Tools>>Options>>Text Editor, it doesn't give me a choice of editors. It doesn't list anything that's even close. It shows a Settings and Display panel but it doesn't offer a list of editors to choose from or a "Line Numbers" choice to select.
I'm using VS 2008 Pro. I don't know if this helps.
Is there another way I can try?

Thanks for the response Mr Kashif. I couldn't get it to work because I didn't drill down into the "All Languages" part of the text editor. Your image was a big help.
