Hi,
Based on my knowledge, a backlog is the number of files waiting to be replicated to the downstream partner. If data on both server are up-to-date, you can do a new initial replication so that it will remove the backlog. It should not take a long time as files are keep sync on both sides.
But it the backlog number not reduce, maybe there's something wrong. So we could check the event viewer and dfs health report, any warning/error logged?
And you could also try the command:
dfsrdiag backlog /rgname:<replication group name> /rfname:<replication folder name> /sendingmember:<servername> /receivingmember:<servername>
This will show the file names which waiting to be replicated.
Best Regards,
Mary

Hi,
In general, we could use Robocopy to preseed files for DFS Replication.
If you mean this, you could check the article below
/en-us/windows-server/storage/dfs-replication/preseed-dfsr-with-robocopy
Please correct me if misunderstanding you.
Besides, keep monitor the dfs event viewer and dfs health report to check if anything wrong.

Mary
