Question

Hi,

Does anyone know where activex stores it's files on a User profile? We have a machine with a faulty profile that won't run an activex control, after creating a new account and making sure the IE settings are the same it works ok on the new profile. What i would like to do is copy the activex files from the working profile to the existing user profile to see if it then works

thanks

I shall suggest you to Reset IE.

Open IE > Gear (Tools)  > Internet options > Advanced > Reset > OK > Reboot > Recheck the issue now.

Kindly go through the following Microsoft article:

Use ActiveX controls for Internet Explorer 11 and Internet Explorer 10

Hi,

Based on my search and check the registry, ActiveX files could be located on C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files.

The easier method is reset IE. Because it will delete all the temporary internet files and re-download the Active control.

Hope it could be helpful

I am not sure, but you could try to copy the folder
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache
from one profile to the other.
