How to remove 'collapse' tool-bar above spreadsheet (Excel 2007)

Question

I've been working on some spreadsheets and they have this really annoying toolbar above them. Please see the following image:

Picture of the problem

Just above 'Air Travel', there is a load of blank space with the little '1,2,3' and a plus. It helps hide and unhide stuff, but I have no idea how to remove it. Any ideas?

Thanks very much for your reply. I managed to find the answer finally. This bar is actually related to the Group and Un-group feature which can be found in the Data tab on the right hand side of the ribbon.

Many thanks for your help!

Hi,

Thank you for using  Excel IT Pro Discussions forum.

From your description, I understand that you would like to remove the extra bar above the Excel worksheet. If there is any misunderstanding, please feel free to let me know.

Based on the current situation, this issue may occur as the worksheet is splitted. To remove this feature, click the View tab. Click Split in the window group.

Please take your time to try the suggestions and let me know the results at your earliest convenience. If anything is unclear or if there is anything I can do for you, please feel free to let me know.

Best Regards,

Having the same problem.  I'm aware it relates to grouping.  I would like to be able to group and ungroup columns without all this space at the top.  It limits the useability of this feature.  Is there any way to limit this space?
