Windows Admin center will not launch

Hi,

I am running Windows 10 1809.  I installed Windows Admin Center but it will not open.  I see the icon for Windows Admin Center appear in the system tray for a few seconds but it quickly disappears.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Windows Admin Center multiple times but this did not solve the problem.

If I repeatedly try to open Windows Admin Center then I receive the error message "An instance of the SME desktop is already running".  However the Windows Admin Center window/console is not visible.

I had this problem with Windows 10 1803 also and thought upgrading to Windows 10 1809 would solve the problem but it did not.

I don't know what else to do.

On the first installation, I configured Windows Admin Center to use Edge and WAC never worked on this PC.

On a separate computer I installed WAC and configured it to use Chrome which worked fine.

Unfortunately if I uninstall and reinstall WAC on the first computer, I am not asked which browser to use so possibly it is still trying to use Edge.  Not sure how I can now configure WAC to use Chrome instead.

When you start Windows Admin Center from the Start menu, it opens in your default browser.

Try to completely uninstall Windows Admin Center, then configure Chrome as default browser, re-install WAC in built-in Administrator account.

Restart computer and start Windows Admin Center, you'll see an icon in the notification area of your desktop. Right-click this icon and choose Open to open the tool in your default browser, or choose Exit to quit the background process.

Thanks for the reply.

I did try what you suggested but it did not help.  Chrome is my default browser and I have uninstalled and reinstalled WAC many times.  I try to right click the WAC icon in the system tray and select Open but it never opens.

Is there a prerequisite that must be installed on the computer for WAC to run?  I really want to be able to use WAC so this is frustrating for it not to run.

Not sure if I have to delete out some registry keys to perform a full uninstall.
