Allow more than 2 concurrent Remote Desktop Connections - Azure

Question

From what I understand, only 2 concurrent RDP sessions can be made with Administration mode.  How can I convert the license to allow more users?

Hello Andrew-Andrew,

Windows Server operating systems allow two administrative RDP connections per server, and, in order to allow additional connections, you would need to have a valid Remote Desktop Services License Server deployed in Azure to hand out CALs you have purchased.

Reference document for RDS in Azure VMs:

Thank you,

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!  I'll look into adding the additional RDP licenses.

Normally this is done on a Windows Server VM. You must install Remote Desktop Session Host on it, and also Remote Desktop Licensing. When you do, you must then also configure which users will have ActiveDirectory membership in the Remote Desktop Users group. Then your server should be able to allow more than 2 concurrent RDP connections. If you intend to have more than 5 connections, you're supposed to purchase additional CALs.
