DFS error - The folder cannot be created in the namespace. Access is denied

Question

Hi All:

I'm having a strange situation here.  Platform - Windows 2012R2,  domain DFS, one namespace with over 400 Folders.

1: Is there a limit on number of folders per  DFS namespace? If so, what is the number?

2: If there are no folder limit, what could cause DFS to generate "Access denied" error message when we tried to add new folder/target?

Permissions are Administrators=Full, SYSTEM=Full, Authenticated Users=Read.

Note:  we had no problem creating several folders under the same namespace a few days ago. And we have made no changes to the system - software/hardware wise.

Hi Personal IT Support,

As far as I know, there's no such limit number on dfs namesapce.

For error "access denied", it usually indicates permission problem.

Please let me know if the account you are using is an admin account, and if you are creating the folder on client computer or on server locally.

You may need to check the security settings including both share permission and security permission for the new folder you are adding.

In addition, here is the similar error discussed before,  you could also take a look.
