Copy & Paste ACCESS DENIED error in Windows 10

Question

After copying part of an image from within Paint.net and receiving the error below, my copy & paste functionality stopped working in Windows 10.

When I tried

cmd /c "echo off | clip"

as suggested by many sources, I got an "ERROR: Access is denied." error.

What can I do to resolve this apart from rebooting my computer?

What is Paint.net? Think you need to post that in the Paint.net sight not an MS one as it does exist on Windows 10.

@l0basetom access denied errors when accessing the clipboard happens when a process fails to release the clipboard.
When you logoff and logon again: does this fix the problem?

Hi, 

Does copy and paste work well in notepad?

If the issue only occur in the third party software Paint.net, I recommend to ask for help from their official support.

If you can't use copy and paste in notepad, please check the error code and reply us.

@Joy-Qiao : he already wrote that the command line tool "clip" also gives access denied.

paint.net 4.0.18 appears to corrupt Windows clipboard
