Question

Hi,
I have 2 Windows Server 2008 R2 servers configured in fail-over cluster environment with 7 Cluster disks.
Yesterday I got an error in the "cluster event" that the "Cluster Disk 2" is failed and not coming online.
When I am trying to manually making online these disks, I am getting this error
I have validated the cluster configuration and it failed.
I have checked for the disk in my disk management, and its showing offline, and I am not getting any option to bring it online.
I have also tried making disk online through diskpart, but it did not work.
Now what is happening, when I move my cluster disks from one node to another, its working fine and applications hosted on cluster is also running.
But when I restart one node from the cluster, disks goes down in another node as well with error in event viewer.
Can anyone help??

Hi,
Thanks for your reply!
OK, the problem is the same as I expected, because a node does not release the key of the disk, which usually happens when the storage suddenly disconnects.
For more information about scsi-3 persistent reservation, please see it:
So in the meanwhile, i think you should contact HP storage vendor and check the connection between nodes and storage.
if my reply is useful, please mark it as an answer, thank you in advance.

Daniel

Hi,
Thanks for posting in our forum!
The 1069 event is rather generic and just means that a resource failed. The error code 0x8007139a is also pretty generic and means "The cluster resource could not be brought online by the resource monitor."
So, I want to confirm more information with you.
1. What is the connection between your disks and nodes? ISCSI or FC.
2. What are the errors that you can't run the cluster validation report?
3. >> But when I restart one node from the cluster, disks goes down in another node as well with error in event viewer.
Which node do you restart?
You can try the following methods:
1. Restart the cluster service.
2. Run “Clear-ClusterDiskReservation” and try again.
/en-us/powershell/module/failoverclusters/clear-clusterdiskreservation?view=win10-ps
3. Try to uninstall AV software and then try again.
4. Check if there is a problem with the connection between the disk and the node.
5. Check whether you have proper network settings at your place. Sometimes Network fluctuations cause of getting these kind of issues.
If the disk still cannot bring online, please collect and upload Cluster Log.
/en-us/powershell/module/failoverclusters/get-clusterlog?view=win10-ps
Hope this can help you, if you have any question, please feel free to let me know.
Best Regards,
Daniel

Hi Mr. Daniel,
Thanks for your reply.
1. What is the connection between your disks and nodes? ISCSI or FC.
Its a SAS Storage connected through ISCSI.
2. What are the errors that you can't run the cluster validation report?
3. >> But when I restart one node from the cluster, disks goes down in another node as well with error in event viewer.
Which node do you restart?
I have tried restarting both the nodes, one by one. When the one node goes down, all cluster disks from another node goes down.
My "Cluster Disk 2" came online when I restarted my HP Storage, but another disk "cluster disk 5" went offline.
I tried running your solution:
Run “Clear-ClusterDiskReservation” and try again: I think this solution worked, my disk came up after some time of running the command.
But I am not certain as it again gone offline twice after coming up.
I will keep it under observation and keep you posted.
Thanks
