Hi ,
The RPCSS service is the Service Control Manager for COM and DCOM servers. It performs object activation requests, object exporter resolutions and distributed garbage collection for COM and DCOM servers. If this service is stopped or disabled, programs using COM or DCOM will not function properly.
It seems that this service cannot be disabled via the services MMC or a registry path.

Candy

Hi ,
This problem may occur if you disable the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service. Many Windows operating system procedures depend on the RPC service.
Microsoft recommends that you do not disable the RPC service.
From General tab in services.msc you cannot Start/Stop and change the Startup type of RPC Endpoint Mapper/RpcSs.
If you indeed want to stop the service, you might try to change Startup type of RPC Endpoint Mapper/RpcSs from Registry Editor.
Please navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\RpcEptMapper and locate Start registry key.
Please navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\RpcSs and
locate Start registry key.
Double click on Start and edit the value:
Change Startup type :
Automatic - 2
Manual - 3
Disabled - 4
Important:Make sure that you back up the registry before you modify it. Make sure that you know how to restore the registry if a problem occurs.

Hi ,
>>may please let know the target of making the modify for when compared with the current default setting ?
I am a bit confused about your description. Could you please clarify more details?
Automatic - 2
Manual - 3
Disabled - 4
Set value data to 2 means Automatic. If you want to disable the service, you could set the value to 4.

Candy
