Question

Howdy,
I cannot copy files to a remote network folder over SMB/NetBIOS.
This is a network folder in the local network shared on a file server in our company. The server is running on Windows Server 2012 and the domain workstation I am copying this from runs Windows 10 Pro.
The files are PNG images that are less than 100 Kbytes each.
I wonder what could be the issue?
Any clue?
Thank you.

Symptoms
You are trying to copy a file from a local computer to a network drive or network folder and receive the following error:
File Too Large
===================
The file FileName.ext is too large for the destination file system.FileName.ext
Item type: FileType
Size: xx KB
[Cancel]
This could be a file of any size. The size of the file is fully supported by the destination file system. For example, the file you are copying is smaller than 30 Kbytes and the destination file system is NTFS.
Cause
It appears to be a bug with ReFS.sys driver. The destination filesystem must match the source file system.
If your source location on a local computer is formatted in ReFS and the destination remote location is formatted into NTFS, you will receive the stated error.
Solution
If you get this error as a result of copying a file from a ReFS formatted file system to a NTFS formatted file system, do the following:
1. On the local computer copy the file first to a drive that has the same file system as the destination file system on a network location.
For example, if the network location has NTFS file system, copy the file first to a local drive formatted into NTFS.
2. When the file is located on a drive that has the same file system as the destination location, copy the file to the destination.

Hi Exotic,
What is the disk format fo the shared drive?
Transfering files from NTFS to FAT32 might report the mentioned error.
We need to convert the format, see the thread below:
Besides, would it be possible for us to transfer the files using some USB external drive?
Regards

Is this happening with just one client or multiple clients? If multiple clients, then a storage quota may be enabled on the folder/share on the server.

Hi,
The issue is obviously not with FS type. The target is a DFS NTFS-formatted volume and I am copying small files which are as small as 50-100 K in size.
So what could be the issue? Still unresolved...

Hi Exoic,
What is your current situation?
It sounds weird, how about copying files from Windows 10 to the other network folders?
Have you tried to re-map the network folder?
Regards

Hello there.
I'm having this same issue on a Windows 10 Computer
But all my HD are NTFS.
This error even appears when trying to move files from the same HD to another
folder on the SAME HD.
I tried the following:
I copied to the HD where Windows 10 is installed and I could copy without issues.
When tried to copy from Windows 10 HD to Data (D: Dados) the error prompts.
I tried compressing the folder with files im tring to transfer and I could copy succesfuly
from Windows 10 to Data HD
So when I try to extract files from compressed file many errors promt saying "The parameter
is incorrect"

"I'm having this same issue"...
then describing a totally different setup.
You should create a new thread, and post the exact error message. (I somehow doubt that you get the exact message as in the original post)
