Can't restore console using tscon to disconnect a remote desktop session after installing Feature update 1903.

Question

I don't like to have to log back in to my host PC after remote desktop connecting to it so have always used the command "tscon %SessionName% /dest: console" to exit the RD session. This no longer works after installing Feature Update 1903. It fails with:

Could not connect sessionID 4 to sessionname console, Error code 5023
**   Error [5023]:The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation.**

The doc for Feature Update 1903 states:

Starting with this release the Remote Desktop Services uses a Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) based Indirect Display

**  Driver (IDD) for a single session remote desktop.**

I strongly suspect this new IDD functionality is what has made tscon stop working.

Anyone know how to implement this functionality on Feature Update 1903 and later machines?

No progress on making tscon work but I have found something now that I like very much better than using the Windows Remote Desktop anyway. And giving the console back is not an issue with it. I found and am now using ANYDESK. To me it is much more robust and superior to Remote Desktop and has many more features. When the connection is made, the console on the machine you are connecting to stays up and usable so you don't have to worry about giving it back when disconnecting since it is never taken away in the first place. Some people may not like it this way but I have already found numerous uses for it. It's kind of like the remote support connection some vendors will make when helping you solve a problem and you both can control the mouse and all other functions. If there is an option to not have the screen appear on both, I haven't found it yet but I wouldn't say for sure that there isn't. The utility tends to be LAN oriented and has a nice GUI showing other computers available to connect to. One thing I haven't tested yet is the ability to connect from afar over the internet via the WAN. It looks like that functionality may not be there but I like ANYDESK so much that even if so, I will continue to use it at home (the vast majority of my use) and just use Windows Remote Desktop when I'm away.
