windows 10 enterprise evaluation activation problem

Question

Monday, March 25, 2019 9:39 AM

Hi, we have few Windows 10 enterprise evaluation teaching pc's which we re-install every week with WDS and custom image.

Problem is that after re-install on the right corner on the wallpaper there is text "Windows 10 Enterprise Evaluation, Windows License is expired".  When you go to Windows Activation settings it has production key, but there is text with red: "We can't activate Windows on this device because you don't have a valid digital license of product key. If you think you do have a valid license or key, select Troubleshoot below. Error code: 0xC004C00"

When you have been on the Activation Settings page ~15 seconds, it's activate's windows. After that you still have to go to wallpaper and press F5 to get rid off the "Windows License is expired" text on the corner. Reboot doesn't help neither.  Can I get rid of this by Powershell, because I would like to automate the process, because at the moment it is taking a lot of time weekly by going all pc's through and activating them.

There is slmgr command but is it the right solution?

Hi,

If you don’t do anything for a period of time, will the machine be activated automatically?

You can run SLMGR /ato in one machine to have a test, if it is activated, then we can use PowerShell to run on all machines.

Hello,

Downloaded the Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC yesterday, and it does not activate upon installation or with slmgr.vbs /ato

sha256sum 17763.107.101029-1455.rs5_release_svc_refresh_CLIENT_LTSC_EVAL_x64FRE_en-us.iso

With or without logging into the download page the download has the same checksum.

slmgr.vbs /ato reports Error: 0xc004c003 the activation server determined the specified product key is blocked.

This is a fresh install, I did do this same steps couple weeks back on a different machine, and then all was fine and I gotten a 150 days trial if I remember correctly.

Perhaps it has to do with

  • In order to use Windows 10 Enterprise, you must sign in to your PC with a Microsoft account. The option to create a local account will be made available at the time of the final release.

Hi Barry,

I would recommend you check out the following TechNet forum thread which specifically focuses on having this problem with Windows 10 Enterprise 1809 LTSC Evaluation:

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/87b81fa7-f1d8-412f-91ac-e53c0a2578f3

Bottom line, it would appear that the ISO available on Microsoft's Evaluation Center website is not functional for many users attempting to evaluate LTSC.  We have discovered one workaround so far while we wait for Microsoft to provide an official solution; check out the thread linked above for details.

Regards,

An
