Started from scratch and everything looks good now.

Did you try the following :

In Hyper-V, right-click on the img file then click on Mount. The hyper-v will assign a drive letter to the img file. This technically now acts as a DVD Media. In the Virtual Server go to Settings then to IDE Controller – DVD Drive. Then choose Physical Drive and the letter of the mounted img.

Tried this already, it displays message that media is corrupt.

Only way then is to convert the img to iso and see if this works then.

Did you allready test if your .img can be mapped on another device and isn't corrupt ?

I tested on Server 2012 R2 and Windows 8, and failed to mount the image file.

Have you tried renaming .img to .iso?

What created the .img file?  Are you sure it is a valid file and is was not corrupted during its creation?

This worked for me.

I was trying to mount an Office 2013 .img file on a VM. It would let me mount anything other than .iso and I simply renamed the file to .iso and it worked perfectly.
