Question

Hello,I have encountered an issue with this version of Visual C++
It started when I tried to install a game from Origin (Titanfall2)
It seems like the intaller for this package does not work and can not by any means install it.
I have tried everything I have seen on the forums.

Here is more information on what I did: After the first time it failed it appeared in the uninstall programs panel but could not be installed or repaired in anyway. I managed the find the location of the files to delete and it disappeared from the uninstall control panel but it did not change a thing. I tried to download the package myself from the Windows download center, still get the same error.
And yes I have restarted the computer multiple times
Thank you in advance for the help.

Hi Jonathan991,
Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
Error 0x8007015e is defined "No action was taken as a system reboot is required."
Please try with following steps to troubleshoot:
1. Check Windows update and make all patches to the latest.
2. Run Fix it tool to fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed.
3. Uninstall the Visual C++ 2012 from Control Panel>Programs and Features.
4. Reboot your machine.
5. Install Update for Universal C Runtime in Windows
6. Re-download and install from Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4.

Hello Lana,
Thanks for your answer.
However even with the Fix It tool I am unable to uninstall the program.

Hi Jonathan991,
Thank you for your update.
If you have trouble about uninstall even with the fix it tool. You could use the tool msiinv:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2005/07/01/using-msiinv-to-gather-information-about-what-is-installed-on-a-computer.aspxto find it and run this command from an admin prompt: msiexec /X to uninstall it.

Hello Lana,
Great tool you gave me, I managed to run it fine and delete what was remaining of VC++ 2012 x64.
Unfortunately still is a no go for the install even though Microsoft fix it does not list it anymore in the programs list (so it must be definetly gone). I even uninstalled VC 2012 x86 to see if it would affect anything but no luck.
The installer still give me the same error as the beginning, find the log below as maybe it tells something different ?

Hi Jonathan991,
Thank you for your update.
I checked your log, and find the following error:
Could not load or read state file: C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\ca67548a-5ebe-413a-b50c-4b9ceb6d66c6}\state.rsm, error: 0x80070003.
This is usually caused by the installer is corrupted, which means that your game setup files are missing or broken. The root cause is not about your machine visual C++ items, but the game installer integrity.
You'd better consult with the game developer author from Origin (Titanfall2), to verify and make sure the installer is complete, then continue the setup process.
Thank you for your understanding.

Hi Lana,
Thanks for the answer, Interesting this takes.
However in the installog from Titanfall 2 we can see this;

20:59:25 Error installing x64 VC runtime.
20:59:27 Installer finished with exit code: 1
20:59:27 Shutting down data reader.
It still seems to me that the VC++ is the issue as I have tried to remove and install it independantly from Titanfall 2 it surely would work right ? Even outside Titanfall
I'll see how the Origin support will be able to help me, meanwhile if you find anything else that could help the situation.

Hi Jonathan991,
To check if the root cause is about the Visual C++ in the machine environment or the game installer. How about finding another computer, which with Visual C++ 2012 Update 4 installed, start the game setup.
If the installation is ok, you need to check the original machine windows update, make sure there is no missing system files, clean the %Temp% folder, install the Visual c++ items.
If the installation has the same error, you'd better contact the game developer, to gain a much appropriate fix and support for this issue.
