Question

Hi there,
I have previously asked this on the Microsoft forums but they have passed me to these forums to try and get help with my problem.
Over the past 2-3 weeks I have noticed a problem when opening or saving files from our network share in the office.
When opening files from a network share, there is a long delay accompanied by a 'downloading' message for office documents opened with our Office 365 package. Whether opening and editing, then saving a Word or Excel file, or attaching an attachment to an email in outlook, they all get the delay.
There is no delay when opening similar sized PDFs or images. Even running our accounts program there is no problem.
I have done a speedtest on the network and tat is normal.
Has anyone seen this before? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi MarkJR84,
>> Over the past 2-3 weeks I have noticed a problem when opening or saving files from our network share in the office.
By this, do you mean this is a recently happened issue which affects all users? Have you ever made any changes to your environment during that time period? Please provide the version information of Windows then we can do further analysis. It is also suggested to temporarily turn off the security software such as firewall and anti-virus to see there will be any improvement.
If the issue persists, please try the following steps to see if the issue can be fixed:
Important Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur. Please refer to this article about how to back up and restore the registry in Windows:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/322756
1. Close all your office programs , press "Win + R", then type "regedit", press "Enter".
2. Locate the registry key to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Open Find
3. Right click in the blank area on the Edit menu, and then click on DWORD Value.
4. Type EnableShellDataCaching, and press ENTER.
5. Now right-click on EnableShellDataCaching, and then click on Modify. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
6. Exit Registry Editor.
Hope the above information can be helpful. Please feel free to post back with any updates.
Best regard,
Yuki Sun
